Introduction. Unlike many magazines vying for your advertising dollar, Chiang Mai Shopping Secrets is distributed to a global audience, aimed at reaching them ‘before’ they make their holiday choice, not after they have arrived here on a tight tour itinerary that does not allow them time to visit your business, even if they saw your ad by chance - whilst waiting in their hotel lobby. Chiang Mai’s Shopping Secrets is designed so that tourists/buyers can easily find their way to shops advertised without guide services, allowing you and the buyer to deal direct, without the need to factor in commissions. Because the book is sold and not given away free, and because it is dedicated to ‘shopping’, it is only purchased and read by those who actually are your target market group – and are actively looking for shopping opportunities. Because a part of our revenue comes from the sales price, we can offer you better advertising rates, making, perhaps for the first time, print media advertising a viable option for Chiang Mai arts and crafts businesses. Buyers of the book are given free membership to the Inside Tracks online shopping programme, on which you may have a fact sheet and catalogue page. Your satisfied clients will be able to remain loyal customers, ordering goods from you long after they have returned home. Production is by Track of the Tiger T.R.D. a tourism resources development company with interests across a wide range of tourism related businesses. M.D. is Khun
Sriphan Beary. The first print run is for 3.000 copies, and our projected target is to achieve sales of 3.500 copies per month by the end of year one and 5.000 copies per month by the end of year two. Our sales figures are easily tracked as each book has its own unique number allowing the buyer access to Inside Track’s, the online shopping forum. Chiang Mai Shopping Secrets will be updated twice per year so as to ensure we account for vendor outlet turnover, and to closely follow the creative trend developments in the ‘arts & crafts’ industry. We expect to reach most of the English language speaking world through a combination of online and offline sales. Other language translations will be considered as an integral part of our business development plan. We will promote and sell the book through affiliate website advertising, as well as by advertising in selected print media outlets. We will offer the book to government agencies, tasked with promoting Thailand (tourism, arts & crafts, exports) at special promotional rates. Sales & Distribution – domestic By the beginning of November 2006, we expect to have established our domestic sales and distribution channels using a combination of bookshops, hotel shop or concierge desk outlets, and other target market rich sales outlets including fairs, exhibitions etc. Sales & Distribution – international This website will be our primary sales tool for getting the book to the international market. We have established an e-commerce and shipping option with DHL, and are in the process of establishing an ‘affiliates’ programme that allows webmasters presenting Thai related product or services, the opportunity to earn referral fees by redirecting potential buyers from their websites to our own - so that they may purchase the book online. We are exploring sales & distribution options outlets in the top 12 countries, prioritized by the number of English speaking visitors they provide to Thailand each year. Print advertising

The Chiang Mai Bargain Hunter – shopping programme Track of the Tiger T.R.D. designed the Bargain Hunter programme, having determined that ‘shopping’ is the ‘attraction’ with the highest potential as a tool for tourism development with the following goals: (a) Attracting
higher yield tourist visitors. Track of the Tiger T.R.D, or its drivers/shopping assistants, will not request commissions on sales when bringing customers to your shops or outlets. We do ask however that you provide our clients with the best possible pricing and service, encouraging them to continue as online customers once they have returned to their own countries. Bear in mind they will invariably post comments on the CMSS members online notice board that will influence the shopping decisions of other members. Track of the Tiger will use the forum of the ‘Inside Tracks’ catalogue to showcase a selection of ‘arts & crafts’ in various categories to its membership, promoting items that we deem to have good sales potential.
